WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us such as name, address, contact information, passwords and security data, payment information, photographs and other information provided on your government issued identification cards, if provided to us to verify your identity.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when registering at the Sites, expressing an interest in obtaining information from us about us and our services, when participating in activities on the Sites or otherwise contacting us.

The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Sites, the choices you make and the services we provide to you. The personal information we COLLECT can include the following:

Name and Contact Data. We collect your first and last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other similar contact data.

Credentials. We collect passwords, and information used to verify your identification including government issued identification, which is used for authentication and account access.

Payment Data. We collect data necessary to process your payment for membership fees, and any contributions that you make to us, such as your PayPal account number and/or the details of your credit card (all or part of the card numbers, expiration date, card type, etc.). All payment data is stored by our payment processor, BrainTree, and you should review its data privacy policies and contact the payment processor directly to respond to any questions that you have.

Social Media. We do not collect any social media account details.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.  

 

Information automatically collected

In Short: Some information – such as IP address, details of how you are accessing our websites (mobile app or web), and certain device information – is collected automatically when you visit our websites, but only if you are a logged in registered user or member.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the Sites, provided that you are a registered user or member and have logged in. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information), but may include device information such as your IP address, your device ID, model and manufacturer, operating system, version information, etc. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Sites.

Like many organizations, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.

 

Information collected through our Apps

In Short: We may collect information regarding your mobile device, push notifications, when you use our apps.

 

If you use our Apps, we may also collect the following information:

  • Mobile Device Access. We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device’s camera, , reminders, SMS messages and other features. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings.

  • Mobile Device Data. We may automatically collect device information (such as your mobile device ID, model and manufacturer), operating system, version information and IP address.

  • Push Notifications. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or the mobile application. If you wish to opt-out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device’s settings.

 

Information collected from other Sources

In Short: We do not collect personal information about you from other sources.

We do NOT collection personal information about you from other sources such as public databases, joint marketing partners, social media platforms (such as Facebook), or from other third parties.

 

HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We process your information for purposes based on legitimate organizational business interests, the fulfillment of our contract with you, compliance with our legal obligations, and/or your consent.

We use personal information collected via our Sites for a variety of organizational purposes described below. We process your personal information for these purposes in reliance on our legitimate organizational business interests (“Business Purposes”), in order to enter into or perform our membership agreement with you (“Contractual Reasons”), with your consent (“Consent”), and/or for compliance with our legal obligations (“Legal Reasons”). We indicate the specific processing grounds we rely on next to each purpose listed below.  

We use the information we collect or receive:  

  • To facilitate account creation and logon process (with your Consent). We use the information you provide us to facilitate the account creation and logon processes.

  • To send you promotional and/or marketing communications (for Business Purposes and/or with your Consent). We may use the personal information you send to us for our marketing purposes, if this is in accordance with your marketing preferences. You can opt-out of our marketing emails at any time (see the “Your Privacy Rights” section below) by unsubscribing to mass emails.

  • To send administrative information to you (for Business Purposes, Legal Reasons and/or Contractual Reasons). We may use your personal information to provide information and membership services to you and/or information about changes to our membership terms, conditions, and policies.

  • Fulfill and manage your payments (for Contractual Reasons). We may use your information to fulfill and manage your payments for membership and/or any contributions you make through the Sites.

  • Request Feedback (for Business Purposes and/or with your Consent). We may use your information to request feedback and to contact you about your use of our Sites.

 

  • To protect our Sites (for Business Purposes and/or for Legal Reasons). We may use your information as part of our efforts to keep our Sites safe and secure (for example, for fraud monitoring and prevention).

  • To enable user-to-user communications (with your Consent). We may use your information in order to enable user-to-user communications with each user’s consent.

  • To enforce our terms, conditions and policies (for Business Purposes, Legal Reasons, and Contractual Reasons). For example, we may use your personal information to verify your identity so as to be able to enforce the terms and conditions of our voting policies.

  • To respond to legal requests and prevent harm (for Legal Reasons). If we receive a subpoena or other legal request, we may need to inspect the data we hold to determine how to respond.

  • Vital Interests and Legal Rights. We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person and illegal activities, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.

  • Vendors, Consultants and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your data with third party vendors, service providers, contractors or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. Examples include: payment processing, email delivery, hosting services, customer service and marketing efforts. Unless described in this Policy, we do not share, sell, rent or trade any of your information with third parties for their promotional purposes.

  • NRN ICC. To fulfill our business obligations, we may share your information with NRN ICC, the international council of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, in which case we will require NRN ICC to honor this privacy policy, and any other data privacy policy required of an international organization (for example the European General Data Privacy Regulations (GDPR), currently the most restrictive international data privacy regulations).

  • With your Consent. We may disclose your personal information for any other purpose with your consent.

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information, for limited purposes, such as for login and/or for user language.

 

IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?

In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.

Our servers are located in Ohio, Illinois, and New York State, USA. If you are accessing our Sites from outside the USA, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us in our facilities and by those third parties with whom we may share your personal information (see “Disclosure of Your Information” above) in a country other than where you are located.

If you are a resident in the European Economic Area, then the countries where your information may be transferred to, stored or processed, may not have data protection or other laws as comprehensive as those in your country of residence. Any data collected by third parties is not covered by this privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of any third parties, including other websites, services or applications that may be linked to or from the Sites. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

 

HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
